---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the API documentation for the omero_utils library. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ## Connections Decorator-based OMERO connection lifecycle management. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the User Guide documentation for the package. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ## Guide ### Overview `omero-utils` is the layer every other OMERO-Screen package uses to talk to an OMERO server. It is deliberately small: connection lifecycle, attachments, map annotations, image I/O and plate iteration, with no analysis logic. ## The connection decorator Connections are managed by a decorator rather than by hand, so a function never has to open, check or close a session itself. ```python from omero_utils.omero_connect import omero_connect from omero.gateway import BlitzGateway @omero_connect def count_wells(plate_id: int, conn: BlitzGateway | None = None) -> int: assert conn is not None plate = conn.getObject("Plate", plate_id) return len(list(plate.listChildren())) count_wells(1234) # the connection is opened, injected, and closed for you ``` Credentials come from the environment (`USERNAME`, `PASSWORD`, `HOST`), loaded from the `.env.{ENV}` file — see [Install & configure](../../user-guide/installation.html). If the server cannot be reached the decorator raises `OmeroConnectionError` rather than returning a half-open session.
